- Gas and electrical work belongs to licensed professionals. Gas lines, gas valves, venting, blower wiring and any alteration of a certified appliance should be done by a licensed professional, in line with local codes and the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Fuel and ash need care. Burn only the fuel the appliance is listed for, never use flammable liquids to start a fire, and store hot ashes in a covered metal container away from anything that can burn.

Building, fire, gas and electrical codes, permit rules, clearance distances, emissions rules and inspection requirements differ by state, county and local authority, and change over time. Always follow your local requirements and your equipment manufacturer’s instructions, which take priority over anything on this Site.
